Stylish Layers

Christmas is over and the food debris from the Christmas and New Year festivities have now been cleared.

It is back to work for majority, although in this instance, some of your clothes might feel slightly tighter than usual due to the festive food over indulgence. For those disciplined amongst us, they will fit right back into their clothes with no problem whatsoever.

For those who have not been so disciplined, our suggestions on how to hide that festivity weight gain for the next week or two whilst you get back in shape is by layering!

Those in colder climates have an added advantage as a winter look would serve an additional purpose of keeping you warm.

Although there is no hard and fast rule to layering, there seems to be some method to this art. Here are a few of our suggestions:

Darker Colours – To accompany the winter colour palette, darker tones tend to provide a slimming effect.

Blazer – Our stylist suggests wearing a buttonless blazer to provide a smart and less constricted feeling.

Loose Clothing – Wearing loose knits or jersey flowy tops/dresses are a good idea, though this depends on the type of environment you work in. This can be worn underneath a blazer, which still preserves an overall smart appearance. A flowy dress can be styled with tights and a loose top can be worn with tailored trousers.

For men, hiding the festive weight gain can be easily achieved by wearing a v neck sweater on top of your shirt and underneath your blazer. Wearing a slightly loose sweater is definitely more forgiving as it makes the weight gain less obvious.
